Most of you met Astro on my Facebook page yesterday. He's my helper around here. He helps to remind me to take breaks and get some fresh air. He greets everyone who walks through the door. He's warm and cuddly...
and he smells like a dog.
He's a small dog and I can give him a bath in the sink, but it's not easy. He hates it. I hate it. I have a hard time getting him to hold still and can't get the shampoo out. The entire house smells like a wet dog and there's fur clinging to everything when we're done. So I don't do it anymore.
He goes to a groomer. She brushes him, bathes him, trims his nails and does that nasty butt thing dogs need to have done. I just drop him off dirty and pick up a sweet smelling pup who won't be scooting on my carpet.
It's worth it! It saves me time. It saves me some stress and a smelly house.
Sure I could do it myself. But sometimes just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
I had Lisa from Powers of Love come to my house twice to teach me to crochet. I can't do it. I can't see where to put the needle. It all looks like a knot of yarn to me. So I hire her to make me what I want. To me... it's worth it.
The world today is so DIY but really, there are things that should be done by someone who truly knows what they are doing.

ReplyDeleteI attempt to delegate chores around the house to the kiddos. (Since I have an army of them) Alas, I am a perfectionist...so I usually end up doing at least some of them. But it sure does help out with my time even though I'm still doing some of it. I'm not doing all of it myself.
Also...I'm leaving you to making any graphics I need in the future. Sure I could do it. But you're super fabulous and do a much better job. You're the pro there for sure!

ReplyDeleteBloom, I lost the battle with perfection a long time ago. Or would you say I won? Now I don't care if the towels aren't folded just right. Are they clean and in the closet... well that sounds perfect to me :) I'm still a perfectionist when it comes to my work but I don't see that as a bad thing. I'm doing what I do best... someone else can do the rest!
